With just two ingredients and a few minutes on the stovetop, you can make your own Brown Sugar Simple Syrup, just like your favorite specialty coffee shop uses in their fancy drinks!

Brown Sugar Simple Syrup (1)

Brown Sugar Simple Syrup

When you're craving a sweetened iced coffee or iced tea, a Brown Sugar Simple Syrup is the liquid sweetener that you will want to use! Brown sugar and even white sugar won't dissolve easily in a cold beverage but this classic simple syrup will!

A homemade syrup made with just water and brown sugar is the way to go when you want to add a delicious sweetness to your cold drinks, hot coffee and hot tea too.

The classic simple syrup is typically made with regular white sugar but making simple syrup with brown sugar gives this sweet syrup a richer flavor that can be described as a deep caramel flavor. Oh yum!

Brown sugar syrup is a richer syrup with a darker color and deeper flavor than white sugar syrup due to the molasses content of the brown sugar.

A small saucepan and equal parts water and brown sugar are all you will need to make yourself a delicious syrup to sweeten your favorite hot or cold beverage.

Brown Sugar Simple Syrup (2)

I used light brown sugar but the type of brown sugar that you use is a personal preference.

So go ahead and use dark brown sugar if you prefer. Dark brown sugar will also give this simple syrup recipe a slightly deeper molasses flavor and slightly stronger caramel taste.

And if you want a thicker simple syrup you can change the ratio of sugar to water. Simply double the sugar so that you have twice as much sugar as water.

For example, 2 cups of brown sugar and 1 cup of water will give you a thicker syrup with a deeper flavor and darker color. Thick brown sugar syrup will not last as long in the refrigerator as a syrup made with a one to one ratio as in this recipe.

Trust me when I say that your coffee drinks, teas, lattes and co*cktails will have a rich caramel-like flavor when you add a splash of Brown Sugar Simple Syrup!

And the best part? Now you don't even have to leave home to enjoy your favorite specialty coffee drink when you have your very own brown sugar syrup right in the fridge!

If you love homemade simple syrups, you'll want to make our strawberry simple syrup and blueberry simple syrup too!

My passion for creating delightful culinary experiences spans over two decades, and I've had the pleasure of exploring and perfecting various recipes, including specialty drink syrups.

The article you've provided offers a comprehensive guide to crafting Brown Sugar Simple Syrup, a versatile and flavorful sweetener for both hot and cold beverages. Let's break down the key concepts mentioned in the article:

        1. Brown Sugar Simple Syrup Overview:

          • This syrup serves as a liquid sweetener for iced coffee, iced tea, hot coffee, and hot tea.
          • Unlike regular white sugar, brown sugar is used to create a richer syrup with a deep caramel flavor.
        2. Ingredients and Ratio:

          • The recipe calls for only two ingredients: water and packed light brown sugar.
          • The equal parts ratio of water to brown sugar (1:1) is essential for achieving the right consistency.
        3. Variations in Brown Sugar:

          • Light brown sugar is recommended in the recipe, but dark brown sugar is suggested as an alternative for a deeper molasses flavor and stronger caramel taste.
          • Adjusting the sugar-to-water ratio can result in a thicker syrup with a more intense flavor and darker color.
        4. Preparation Process:

          • The cooking process involves simmering the water and brown sugar in a small saucepot until the sugar dissolves.
          • After cooling to room temperature, the syrup is transferred to a glass container and refrigerated.
        5. Flavor Enhancements:

          • The article provides optional flavor enhancements such as adding vanilla extract, vanilla beans, or cinnamon sticks to the hot syrup for additional depth.
        6. Storage and Shelf Life:

          • Proper storage in a glass jar with a lid or an airtight container is recommended.
          • The syrup can last in the refrigerator for approximately 2-3 weeks.
        7. Substitutions and Freezing:

          • Dark brown sugar can be substituted for light brown sugar, and granulated white sugar can replace brown sugar for a classic simple syrup.
          • The article confirms that simple syrup can be frozen, with recommendations for freezing in silicone ice cube trays.
        8. Nutritional Information:

          • The provided nutritional information includes calories, carbohydrates, protein, sodium, potassium, sugar, calcium, and iron content per serving.
        9. Recipe Tips and Related Recipes:
