Mixed Berry Moscato Gelees #SundaySupper - Alida's Kitchen (2024)

Mixed Berry Moscato Gelees are a sophisticated gelatin dessert featuring sweet, flavorful Moscato wine, studded with juicy fresh berries and topped with whipped cream. This dessert is very easy to make and a fun way to celebrate and highlight the delicious flavors of the Moscato wine.

This week, the Sunday Supper group is teaming up with Gallo Family Vineyards to celebrate the upcoming National Moscato Day on May 9th, an annual holiday dedicated to enjoying the deliciously sweet varietal. We received a bottle of each Moscato varietal – White Moscato, Pink Moscato and Red Moscato. I had never tried the Pink or Red varietals, and it was fun to mix it up with the new flavors!

In these Mixed Berry Moscato Gelees, I tested the recipe with each of the three varietals. Each is delicious for an easy, fancy dessert, and the colors are gorgeous. With a little extra effort, the varietals can be made into different layers in the serving dish, resulting in a stunning presentation. While each Moscato wine flavor is unique and distinctive, they all pair well with the berries. The whipped cream topping really adds a special touch to the dessert that brings all of the flavors together. Mixed Berry Moscato Gelees transform the Moscato dessert wine into an elegant gelatin dessert fit to appropriately honor National Moscato Day or any special occasion.

Mixed Berry Moscato Gelees

Yields: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups Moscato wine, divided - I used Gallo Family Vineyards
  • 1 envelope unflavored gelatin
  • ½ tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup fresh berries (any variety)
  • whipped cream, for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small sauce pan, put ½ cup wine and sprinkle gelatin over wine. Let sit for 1 to 2 minutes until softened.
  2. Put gelatin mixture over medium heat, add lemon juice and sugar and cook until sugar dissolves, gently stirring occasionally (3 minutes).
  3. Remove from heat, add remaining wine. Pour into a liquid measuring cup (or small pitcher).
  4. Add half berries to 4 serving dishes (or glasses). Pour wine mixture over berries, dividing evenly. Put in the refrigerator for 15 to 20 minutes. Then add remaining berries, as desired [Note: you may want to reserve some for topping/garnish). Put in the refrigerator for 4 hours to overnight.
  5. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream and additional berries.
