Does Smart Switch bring everything over? ›

Smart Switch can transfer all your data, including your device settings, so that you can pick up your new device and carry on right where you left off. You can even create a backup for your old phone's files on your PC or Mac, then transfer or sync your data onto your new Galaxy phone.

While the Samsung Smart Switch is a good solution, it is not an absolute one. There have been complaints about the Smart Switch transfer process where it gets stuck at a certain point and doesn't move ahead.

Items that cannot be backed up with Smart Switch

Calender: Appointments synced with external accounts, such as Google, and calendar stickers are excluded. App data: Data saved in private storage cannot be backed up. Email: Social Hub and Premium accounts (Push email) are excluded.

Delete any excessive save files you have on your system. Remove the Auto-saves first. If the error persists when downloading an application update file, try deleting the game first, then re-downloading everything from your profile in the Nintendo Store under redownload.

While Smart Switch supports tons of data types, there are certain kinds of content that it does not support. For instance, it can't transfer app data, DRM-protected media files, or any third-party account related information. Some stored settings like Safari history, bookmarks, WhatsApp messages, etc.

Note that paid apps and most in-app purchases from non-Android devices won't transfer. But you can install paid apps on your new device later.

The more you want to back up or transfer, the more time the Samsung Smart Switch will take. A few seconds. A few seconds. (The wired connection is faster than the wireless.)

If using a LOCKED phone, insert the SIM card BEFORE using Smart Switch. If you do not, you could risk losing all your data from a factory reset (1st screenshot).

Method 3: Transfer Messages via Samsung Smart Switch

Data types include contacts, messages, call history, images, videos, apps, audio, documents, and the like. This app is compatible with Apple, Blackberry, and all Samsung and Android devices running over Android version 4.0.
